Mommy’s Story

My name is Janette. I am a Christian, and I grew up in a southwestern Ontario village, right in the middle of Mennonite country. I have two younger
brothers, who are both married, one with an adopted daughter from China. I met my husband, Manfred, after responding to his newspaper ad–young Christian man with varied interests…We dated for a few months and then had a long engagement of nearly 1 1/2 years. We were married in August, 1997, and I moved to the big city. We have two darling little boys. Brandon is 7 years old and was born July 13, 1999.

Evan, our refluxer, now 4 years old, joined us 2 1/2 years later on March 25, 2002. Before Evan was born, I was an elementary school teacher, but with Evan’s health problems, I just haven’t been able to go back to work, and I’m still not sure if or when I will return. You can read more about Evan on the boards. My half-time position included teaching core French, JK/SK Gym, grade 4 Science and Technology and grade 4 Social Studies, not to mention French Club, Choir, School Council, yard duty, … the list is endless.

I like to read, cook, bake, go for walks and hikes, and look after my garden and flowerbeds. My favourite books are the Janette Oke series and my favorite movie is Anne of Green Gables. I like the colour royal blue. My favorite flowers are the purple lilac and red roses. I like pizza, lasagna, casseroles and pie, but have to be careful because I have a nasty milk allergy.
