My FIL didn't pass his driving test.  Darn Alzheimers!  The report came in the mail yesterday.  The in-office cognitive evaluation indicated cognitive abilities have declined and driving performance may be compromised.  The on-road evaluation was outside the range of normal healthy drivers and beyond reasonable road safety as defined through research.  Continued driving can place his safety and the safety of others at risk.  Driving cessation is strongly recommended.  The Road Evaluation was aborted as it was unsafe to continue.  Oye!  Finally someone has confirmed what I've been saying for a while, that his driving and his cognitive (thinking) ability are that bad.  It's sad b/c it takes away my inlaws' freedom (in exchange for safety, mind you), and they're very angry about it, wrongly assuming that the doctor is getting paid a huge bonus for taking cars off the road, money that she'll use for a trip to Hawaii, and they're both still in denial that anything is even wrong.  I am officially the chauffeur now.  Although, M. will be along with me this week, since there were only 2 days of work for him this week (darn recession and lay offs!) and will only be 2 1/2 days maximum next week.
